My Instant Buy Authors

You know those authors who never let you down? Who knock it out of the park every single time? Who have you running to the book store the minute they publish a new book? Yeah, those are small miracles and I treasure those writers more than I can explain. So, I thought it was about time I introduced you to my instant buy authors. They publish, I buy. It’s simple.

I love these authors with my whole heart <333

Maggie O’Farrell

Such a stunning book but it’s not even her best!!

About three years ago I read a book called Hamnet, because everyone seemed to be reading it and also, it apparently featured Shakespeare? If my favourite William is involved, then I am instantly sold. What I wasn’t prepared for was that I came for William and stayed for Maggie. That woman can WRITE. And then she did the impossible and topped Hamnet with The Marriage Portrait and ever since then I’ve been a Maggie O’Farrell ultra. If there’s a fan club, invite me immediately because I’ve slowly been making my way through all her novels and she hasn’t failed me once. AND she’s got a new book coming in summer and you better believe I am counting down the days!!

Kerstin Gier

Kerstin Gier’s writing is perfect.

I am so desperate for a new Kerstin Gier book that I have read every single of her YA books about eight times and I don’t plan on stopping soon. These novels are pure escapism for me, but the really good kind that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time (yes, also the eighth time around), because you CARE about these perfect characters and would protect them with your life. Every time Kerstin Gier announces a new book is like Christmas in my house and I cannot wait to see what she’ll publish next, now that her latest fantasy series is finished. Kerstin Gier is also one of the authors who have accompanied me the longest, as I started reading her books as a young teenager and simply have never stopped. And that is such a blessing.

John Green

Oh, John Green.

Speaking of authors I’ve been reading for ages, let me introduce you to this little known author writing really niche books with great characters: John Green. Jokes aside, you know the guy and chances are, you’ve read a book by him (at least I hope you have). I seriously doubt I will ever forget the moment I read The Fault In Our Stars aged 16, as it was the first (and one of the few times) a book has ever made me cry. I love his writing so much I would read anything by him. Which is why I was on board when he pivoted to non-fiction and wasn’t surprised to find out he manages to write even that in a highly entertaining fashion. No one writes about difficult topics quite like him and on top of that, he just seems like the coolest dude ever. If you don’t like John Green, that honestly seems like a bit of a red flag to me.

Susan Hill

I’m so glad I discovered Susan Hill!!

Susan Hill is one of those authors I was completely clueless about until last year, even though she has published so many books, and many of those to great success. But just you believe me when I say that once I had read I Am The King Of The Castle, there was no going back. I was shooketh to my core and so hooked that I’ve made it a goal of mine to read every single one of her books. The lady is 83, so there’s quite a lot to get through (thankfully!!) and I don’t know if she’s officially retired (good for her if she has, but bad for me), so I’m treating every single one of her books like the treasure it is. So far, she hasn’t let me down and because her writing is just so immaculate and cuts right to the bone, I honestly doubt she ever will. I don’t even read the premise before starting one of her books, I’m so seated.

Which authors do you run to the bookstore for?
